Kenya Mission Trip in November 2018
Peter Maclure, who retired as Pastor of Causeway Free Church (now called Causeway Community Church) was invited to be the speaker for the annual Spiritual Life Conference for 300 Africa Inland Mission partners working in all parts of Kenya in November 2018. This involved the privilege and responsibility to give 5 Bible talks and also to speak at the local national church. He and his wife Sally, were then also asked if he could bring a team to help run a holiday club during the same conference for 80 primary aged children of the mission partners. The venue for the conference was at the stunningly beautiful Rift Valley Academy at Kijabe at an altitude of 7,000ft.
Amazingly, with volunteers from our partner churches in the Borough of Enfield and two young people from Exeter, 13 of us flew to Kenya on the 22nd November. It was a wonderful and worthwhile experience and we were very conscious of God’s grace and enabling in answer to the prayer and encouragement of many.
Peter spoke on “Meals with Jesus” – studies in the Gospel of Luke while the children enjoyed the children’s Christianity Explored programme led by Mrs Janette Critoph, with lots of crafts, games and activities. Our multi-cultural team consisted of people from their 70’s to their 20’s. The children were divided into small groups each with their leaders. Every single member of the team made an important contribution and the unity and sense of purpose was evident to all. It was a very intense time but we have received feedback from Kenya, that our “mission” trip was greatly appreciated by the missionary community. We would like to redirect all the praise and honour to God.
